Automobile Extended Warranties - A Necessary Evil

Are automobile extended warranties a good thing? That is a sort of tough question to answer.

Are you one of these people that become a nervous wreck when its time to take the car in for repairs. Most people fear taking their car into the repair shop, just as much as visiting the doctor. And with good reason! Every time you head over to the repair shop, something drastic turns up, and you leave with a bill that can add up into the thousands.

What Can be Done?

Actually that whole scenario can be eliminated. How? By getting automobile extended warranties when purchasing your next vehicle. Some people might argue that they have never needed to use an extended warranty, and that it is just a way for the car dealer to make more money from the sale of the vehicle. And to a degree these people might be right. But what happens if you are one of the few people that needed that extended warranty. You could have saved yourself thousands in repair bill costs. If on the other hand, you had been cautious and bought automobile extended warranties on your vehicles, you would not be shaking your head and crying now, would you?

What are Automobile Extended Warranties and Just What Do They Cover?

Automobile extended warranties cover parts replacement of your car parts when the warranty of your car runs out. This does not mean that they cover parts that have been damaged from normal wear and tear. But it does mean that parts that should not have failed are covered. What kind of parts, well lets say your transmission has a ten year warranty, but fails after three years. Your new car warranty no longer covers the expense of replacing it, but an automobile extended warranty will cover the expense. Get my drift! Extended car warranties are made for when you have an emergency part break down. Automobile extended warranties are kind of like insurance. You may never need it, but boy are you glad you have it when you do need it.

Who Sells Automobile Extended Warranties?

You will probably be offered extended warranty when you purchase your vehicle. Be careful, about what type of warranty it is and what it covers. Make sure you understand what it truly covers, and how much you are being charged for it. You don't want to have a repair later down the road, and assume that your extended warranty is going to cover the cost, and later find out that it doesn't.

Extended warranties can be a great asset, but it is important to know what they really cover and what they don't, that way you wont be angry when you think you can use it, and you really cant.

Better to Be Safe than Sorry
